what does the name cool to care mean?

Cool to Care was formed on the idea that the fashion industry thrives on selling clothes that are trendy. Fast fashion companies mass produce trendy clothes because consumers want to keep up with what is hip and cool at the current moment in time.

We want to promote the idea that the most important trend in the fashion industry is caring about where your clothes come from and how what you wear can negatively impact the environment.

what is cool to care doing to insure they are environmentally-friendly?

Cool to Care is dedicated to being an environmentally-friendly company.

One of the biggest initiatives Cool to Care is taking is to make all products from 100% recycled material.

Tote Bags are made from 100% recycled cotton. Sweatshirts are made from 50% recycled cotton and 50% up-cycled water bottles.

Our sweatshirts also skip the dyeing process which saves water and skips the use of toxic dyes. Due to this all items will be a slightly different color.

All packaging, including shipping labels and tape, are compostable. We will be using ground shipping only to reduce our carbon emissions.

If you decide one day that you do not want to wear your Cool to Care Clothes any longer, you can ship them back to us where we will send them back to the factory they were created at to be reused. We also recommend you donate your clothing if you do not want to wear it anymore.

How are plastic water bottles used in cool to care clothing?

Only 8% of recycling in the United States is actually recycled. Cool to Care wanted to find a way to use plastic water bottles so instead of them ending up in a landfill or the ocean- they are reused!

The plastic water bottles are first collected, sorted and cleaned. The plastic is chopped into flakes which are pelletized into chips and extruded into polyester. The polyester is blended with upcycled cotton fibers and spun into yarn which is knitted and sewed in with recycled cotton to make the sweatshirt.

How should I wash my cool to care products?

You should wash your Cool to Care products on cold with a fully load of laundry.

We also recommend you wash your Cool to Care products in a micro-plastic filter bag.

How and where should I wear my cool to care products?

You should wear your Cool to Care products with the idea that you are making a statement that you think it’s Cool to Care about the earth! Wearing Cool to Care doesn’t mean you’re a perfect, 100% environmentally-friendly consumer. It means you want to work on being a more conscious consumer.

You can wear your Cool to Care products to the local farmers market, a work out class, on a walk, with your dog, at a local restaurant, to your hook-up buddies apartment (to talk about the environment), to a local bar, at your house as you take the recycling out…there’s a lot of possibilities.
